Turkish Grand Prix

After the four-way tie for the win in China, Turkey really threw the form book and the picks out of the window. Renault struggled, McLaren struggled, Red Bull dominated and the GridBids results were all over the shop! paprys91 takes the win, after some frantic calculations and a few corrected scores. The win also helps Renault Renaissance to take the slimmest of leads in the Constructors’ Championship going in to the start of the European season… by a mere 1/6th of a point!

A few customary notes:

  • A maximum possible score at this race was 70 points, for Vettel, Webber, Alonso, Rosberg and Buemi. It might not seem risky, but no one in the entire GridBids game scored it. I suspect this was because few people expected McLaren to finish as far behind as they did.
  • The Most Valuable Pick was Nico Rosberg, at 2.08 points. Even at Vettel’s high price, he (only just) gave good value. No one outside the five mentioned above returned good value.
  • The most-picked drivers were Webber and Hamilton – 11 picks each.

I’d like to tell you that having studied the table of picks, there was a hidden gem, something that made all the difference. Alas, no: nothing. Two people picked Alonso, with vastle different outcomes. Comparing those who picked Vettel with those who didn’t showed very little difference either. Everyone picked at least one McLaren – that’s where we all went wrong!

So, the results, in a nice new table…
