After the first race in Australia, with a shock win for Sauber rookie pmhorrocks, we moved on to the unpredictable climes of Malaysia. Would we see another rookie win? Would one of the old guard pull it off? Would HRT have another horror show?
We welcomed two new drivers, wilkie84 and marcsmeed – the latter also raced in Australia, but was ineligible to score, much to the relief of the rest of the field. Still, the freshest faces on the grid, along with our Australian Grand Prix winner, were cruelly crushed in our first Asian stop of the year, all leaving for China empty-handed.
Still, before I announce the results, a few bits of information for you:
- The highest possible score in Malaysia was, by my reckoning, 79 – Vettel, Button. Heidfeld, Webber, Kobayashi, Schumacher, di Resta;
- The most picked driver? Hamilton. Everyone who picked, picked Hamilton. Which means everyone was screaming at their TV set with ten laps to go, thinking, “no, my Gridbids is going down the pan!” You needn’t have worried!
- No one picked Massa, but two muppets picked Petrov. Come on guys, at a cost of 8.6, he was the *last* guy to pick!
- wilkie84 really needs to take the Reject of the Race award for making both the rookie error of picking Petrov and failing to pick Vettel. You’ll learn…
- Kamizake Kobaybashi was the MVP (Most Valuable Pick) in Malaysia. Had a fantastic ding-dong with Michael Schumacher too!
So, time for the results (race score in brackets):
- monza972, Renault Renaissance (70), +25 points;
- sasjag, Lotus Legends (69), +18 points;
- ferrari_fuhrer, Forza Ferrari (59), +15 points;
- forzavale, Mercedes Moaners (56), +12 points;
- paprys91, Renault Renaissance (55), +10 points;
- martin_d, HRT Horror Show (55), + 8 points;
- seventh equal: schueyfan, Lotus Legends (49), +5 points;
- seventh equal: steph90, Forza Ferrari (49), + 5 points;
- schumistar, Mercedes Moaners (49), +2 points;
- lizzy91, HRT Horror Show (48), + 1 point;
- pmhorrocks, Sauber Start-Ups (48);

- sallys, Reb Bull Rogues (44);
- marcsmeed, Wayward Williams (44);
- wilkie84, Wayward Williams (31);
- jkblues, Sauber Start-Ups (24.5*).
So, there you have it! Veteran GridBids stalwart monza972 takes the victory by a point from fellow veteran sasjag, with ferrari_fuhrer completing a Grand Prix Games lockout on the podium in third! forzavale takes fourth again, martin_d shows he can luck in to the pointd once in a while and lizzy_91 shows consistency if nothing else, coming 10th, again. The Red Bull Rogues had a bad week – Alex yet to score, and jkblues scores 49, but under article 6 of the Noelinho.org GridBids regulations, only scores half points, pushing them out of the points. The moral of the story? Get your picks in!
The Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship scores can be found on the current standings page. Don’t forget to make your picks for China, which is this week, and we might be able to squeeze a another team yet…
