This report may be a little late, but it’s not been forgotten. The Canadian Grand Prix produced a fantastic spectacle, when it finally started, and certainly gave us a lot to talk about during the very long red flag that held up the race for so long. Jenson Button stormed to victory from the back, and when Jenson Button wins, lizzy91 tends to do well too, so no prizes for guessing who won…
The crazy weather, crashes and stoppages again played havoc with the race result, as seems normal this year, and so again, the scores were very low. Hopefully we’ll be back to normal in Valencia!
The customary notes:
- The top possible score was basically everyone bar Vettel, which would nab you 83 points with spare change left to give to the homeless man outside Waitrose;
- The Most Valuable Pick was Petrov (8.33), followed by Schumacher (4.29) and Alguersuari (4);
- Hamilton was the most-picked driver (13 picks), followed by Button and Alonso (10 each) – the three clearly had intelligence, with Button tangling with both, leaving everyone in the GridBids league unimpressed at one point or another;
- Only one player picked Vettel (martin_d, who clearly isn’t very good at maths), and no one picked Alguersuari.
And so, on to the full results from Canada:
| Rank | Name | Score | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | lizzy91 | 48 | 25 |
| 2 | schueyfan | 46 | 18 |
| 3 | paprys91 | 45 | 15 |
| 4 | monza972 | 42 | 12 |
| 5 | marcsmeed | 41 | 10 |
| 6 | sallys | 39 | 8 |
| 7 | martin_d | 37 | 6 |
| 8= | wilkie84 | 35 | 1.75 |
| 8= | jkblues | 35 | 1.75 |
| 8= | ferrari_fuhrer | 35 | 1.75 |
| 8= | alexs | 35 | 1.75 |
| 12= | forzavale | 27 | 0 |
| 12= | steph90 | 27 | 0 |
| 14 | pmhorrocks | 26* | 0 |
| 15 | schumistar | 15 | 0 |
| 16 | sasjag | 9* | 0 |
So, Schueyfan finishes second again, racking up the points, and Renault Renaissance take third and fourth, to cement their lead at the front of the Constructors’ Championship. A bad week for Forza Ferrari, but worse for Schumistar, who finishes behind someone who didn’t pick, and worse who pmhorrocks, who loses half his points for not picking, dropping him from first to fourteenth. Life is cruel, eh?
The European Grand Prix is already (well) behind us, so no need to pick for that, and updated overall tables will be up when the Valencia scores are up.
