Current Reading

This page contains some of the books that I am currently reading. When I have finished these books, I may review them on the site.

"Wait For Me" book cover

Wait For Me - Rebecca St. James

I have actually read all of this book, but it also has a fantastic study guide which I purposely ignored when I read the book the first time around, in order that I could come back to it and read it through again whilst using the study guide.

It's a book about the virtue of abstinance and of waiting for the person God has for you in your life. It is one of the newer books on my book shelf, but it's been thumbed through, read and re-read so often that it probably looks like the oldest!

The book cover for "Walk On"

Walk On: The Spiritual Journey Of U2 - Steve Stockman

Walk On is a book all about U2 and their music. The book is written by a Christian from Northern Ireland and takes a close look at the path the band have taken over 25 years and takes an especially close look at the spirituality of the band. U2 are one of the world's most enduring bands from the last generation, and yet their lyrics are full of Biblical references. A journey with U2 is a rich spiritual journey in itself. As a U2 fan and a Christian, this has always been obvious to me, but this book shows just how deep the faith goes in U2, through high and through low.

The book cover for "Eyewitness To A Genocide"

Eyewitness To A Genocide: The United Nations And Rwanda - Michael Barnett

I have, over the past nine months, spent a great deal of time studying the Rwandan Genocide from 1994. It's a horrific, harrowing story, but there are some very inciteful and thought-provoking books about the genocide. I have thumbed through a numnber of these books, and this book is the latest in that collection of books. The book looks at the reasons behind the inaction of the West in the genocide. A study of the Rwandan genocide provides plenty for us to think about across the world today.

Book cover for "Every Day Deserves A Chance"

Every Day Deserves A Chance - Max Lucado

The mission statement of this book is "to help you have a good day every day". It sounds easy, doesn't it? But then you think about everything that happens in your life, and you realise that it's actually pretty hard. We need peace when we're anxious, fuel when we're tired, forgiveness when we're bitter.

This book is designed to give us perspective and help us to live our lives in a way honouring to God no matter how we're tempted to feel when we wake up in the morning.
