The eagle-eyes amongst you may have spotted a new feature hidden away in the top menu. I’ve actually been thinking about working away at this for a while, but haven’t had a chance to do anything about it. Thankfully, I had a slightly quieter week this week and was able to spend a couple of hours to implement a very rough version of my new recent links plugin.
You may remember an old plugin that mrBen has used in the past, and is now broken. I used to use this plugin too, but it appears to no longer be supported, so I have made my own. So, when I see interesting links, I can now tap a button in my browser and import them on to my site for you all to see on the recent links page.
I do not plan on releasing this as a plugin for general use as, for one thing, I have enough things to do already with out the burden of updating a plugin. Secondly, the code is mashed together and certainly not secure for general release. I will fix this as I get a chance, but it’s certainly not professional code right now. However, if people want a copy of the code, I may, at my discretion, pass it on. I will, as and when I get a chance, add features like categories, a search facility and a weekly digest, as well as a widget on the front page. For now, however, it is very much experimental.
You may also have noticed the lack of photographs recently on the site – unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with the Flickr plugin I use, so I have rolled back to a previous version. There has also been a distinct lack of new photos, for which I can only apologise. This is partly because I was at the Baptist Union of Scotland’s Youth Sports Day in June, and someone trod on my camera. It’s not really been the same since.
Finally, as is usual over the summer, don’t expect much…I’m away a lot, and very busy much of the rest of the time. However, come the middle or end of September and there will be much more waiting for you!
